Rules for Card Games

This is what cards were made for – playing games. And over the centuries, 100s and 100s of games have been devised around playing cards. It is the properties of the deck itself, a household of Royal Characters and thirteen ranks in four suits, that lends itself so well to the devising of conventions and playing of countless games.

Although the basic mechanics of many card games are quite similar, it is the goals, objectives, and relative values which we assign to each card, that gives card games their depth and variety. Opposite is a selection of card games arranged by family. If you don't see what you're looking for there, then check on the Alphabetical Index below. Many card games go by more than one name.
