The King of Diamonds is always seen in profile. This is because in the original Rouen design, he is seen from behind looking over his left shoulder. He holds a poleaxe in his right hand and wears a gold crown. Some of this detail was lost to double ends including the old man's right hand. In this rendition, replacing it was no trouble.
