About WhiteKnuckle Cards

Around 2007 I received a letter from a friend of mine, Brett A. Jones. He was organizing an exhibition for his art works and sent me a bundle of his promotional materials. This was not the first time I had seen Brett's art. In fact, when I lived in Hervey Bay, I'd often been around to his place, and there in his studio you would see one or another of his works in progress.

I was always fascinated by Brett's work. The attention to meticulous detail, the virtual life like photographic quality of his work. As I was looking through the materials it occurred to me that one way to explore his artistic talent might be to do a set of playing cards. After all, the sharp, angular patterns and metallic surfaces that comprise a motor-bike might also be found in the weaponry and medieval accessories of the Royal Household. Look past the simple geometric patterns of the wood block images and see a subject matter rich in potential. The idea was never to change the playing card, but to give expression and dimension to the characters of the Royal Household.

WhiteKnuckleCards.com has been designed as an online resource on playing cards and as a retail outlet for the sale and distribution of WhiteKnuckle Playing Cards. I therefore invite you to take a look around in our Gallery and history sections.
